Scholars at Zanewood are MAKERS! In this space they can create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools, equipment, and materials - everything from pipe cleaners and glitter to hammers, saws, and a drill press!
The young scientists at Zanewood inquire, observe, explore, discover, and explain using authentic scientific tools while answering real-world questions. Our 5th grade scholars also work with real scientists from Science from Scientists sponsored by our partners from Boston Scientific.
Zanewood’s Engineering Lab is a space where scholars make models of structures and machines using materials like LEGO, K’NEX, Kapla Planks, Tom Tect Wooden games and more!
Zanewood scholars are becoming young naturalists with guidance and support from our community partners at Mississippi Gateway Regional Park (Three Rivers Park District). We have created unique outdoor learning spaces and a school garden.
